Organization Directory

We are residents of Athens and Meigs Counties who have come together to oppose fracking, injection wells, and the barging of frack waste on the Ohio River. We come from a range of backgrounds. What we have in common is a vision of our community and of Appalachia more generally: we believe in streams you can drink out of, sweet air, and a place where our kids can play outside.

Ohio sierra club is working in the field of environmental problems since long ago. Most of our clients are from US and all of them are well satisfied with our work.

The Appalachian Peace and Justice Network (APJN) is a non-profit organization that empowers and challenges groups and individuals to work for peace and social justice. APJN educates, trains, and builds coalitions among local and regional groups and institutions. Although APJN began as a peace and justice networking organization, over the years, it has tried to address the root causes of violence and militarism. APJN’s work for peace thus begins with providing education to respect diversity, increasing people’s knowledge and skills to solve problems, and fostering an independent, creative and critical thinking environment. The central ethos, however, remains the same, securing peace and social justice for all.

The Athens Area Mediation Service is dedicated to promoting and supporting reconciliation, integrity, openness and inclusion in our community. We help our community resolve conflicts that already exist and provide tools and education to help people avoid conflicts before they begin.

We are an organization in Athens that gets involved in our community. The main goal of League of Women Voters of Athens County is to create a sense of community in the neighborhoods where people live and work. We hope that an increased sense of community will lead to more personal involvement and more cultural, educational and social activities, which will create a better community and a better place for us to live. We are an unbiased, issue-oriented organization committed to registering people to vote and to inform voters about candidates and issues.

Our programming works to address this with a variety of platforms designed to eradicate bias, harassment, discrimination, and abuse targeting any part of a person’s perceived identity.

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio is committed to protecting access to reproductive health care and rights for all Ohioans through advocacy, education, lobbying, and electoral activity.

Rural Action is a membership-based nonprofit working in the southeast and central eastern counties of Appalachian Ohio since 1991. Our mission is to promote social, economic, and environmental justice by training, organizing and supporting communities. Our work is about developing the region’s many assets in environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable ways. We do this by focusing on sectors identified as important by our members: food and agriculture, forestry, zero waste and recycling, environmental education, and watershed restoration. Emerging work in social enterprise development, local tourism, and energy are more recent parts of our portfolio.

We envision a community of love, justice, human dignity, and sustainability.
